Overview:

In this course, Dr. Van Horn and Dr. Peck will give an in-depth didactic lecture and clinical exercise of full or partial mouth removable overdentures. Starting with case acceptance, planning, placement, production and finally hands-on treatment. Clinicians will obtain the knowledge needed to integrate mandibular implant stabilized overdentures into their practice, and will place implants in various sizes on live patients (upon acquiring a temporary Oklahoma dental license). Attendees have the option to choose the complete course (clinical + didactic) or solely the didactic portion.

Dr. Van Horn is deeply committed to enhancing the well-being of her patients by delivering exceptional comprehensive oral care. With over 18 years of experience in the dental field, she brings a wealth of expertise and systemization, having worked in various roles from front administration to chairside assistance and sterilization before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, Dr. Van Horn received the prestigious 2012 DENTSPLY International Merit Award for her outstanding work in removable prosthodontics.

 

Having had the privilege of practicing alongside exceptional clinicians, including those in oral maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Van Horn values the importance of effective mentorship and provider collaboration in delivering high-quality care. Her dedication to excellence led her to complete the University of Texas post-doctorate Dental Implantology Preceptorship Program in 2014.

 

In 2014, Dr. Van Horn expanded Southern Smiles Dental, where she has since performed more than 800 implant surgeries and restored over 1000 implant cases, significantly impacting the oral health of the Oklahoma community. Then in 2017, she co-founded MIO Dental Careers in Oklahoma City, training dental professionals in essential areas including opioid safety and IV sedation. Through MIO Dental Careers, hundreds of dental assistants have graduated, bolstering the workforce in dental practices across Oklahoma and throughout the world.

 

Currently practicing in private practice in Oklahoma City, Dr. Van Horn remains dedicated to advancing her skills and knowledge. Personally, continuing to receive mentorships and yearly take more than 100+ CE hours. She is also actively working to bring high-quality continuing education opportunities and mentoring to general dentists, furthering her mission to provide exceptional care to her patients and the community.

Dr. Peck brings a depth of knowledge, experience, and passion to the field of dental implantology. As a leading educator and practitioner in the field of implantolgy, Dr. Peck has dedicated the last fifteen years to perfecting and teaching the art of implant dentistry through both private practice and academic leadership.

Dr. Peck has always had a passion for technology. He grew up tinkering with electronics and building computers and was a software engineer before completing his DDS at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with Special Distinction. His passion for technology continued, leading him to a focus on the cutting-edge areas of implant and digital dentistry.

Dr. Peck has contributed to the education of the next generation of clinicians through both his role as Clinical Assistant Professor of Implantology at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and through his many sought after continuing education offerings. His dynamic teaching methods and depth of knowledge rooted in practical experience and advanced technologies, have made him a respected figure among students and professionals alike.

In the professional arena, Dr. Peck has not only successfully managed and grown multiple dental practices but has also personally placed and restored thousands of implants. Drawing on this practical experience he has been an active contributor to dental implantology education both at OU and through CE courses. He has designed and delivered courses including  “Introduction to Implant Placement,” “Digital Dentistry 1,” “Utilizing CAD/CAM Technology to Make Implant Placement more Predictable and Profitable,” and many more.

Currently, Dr. Peck is pioneering an innovative implant continuum in Oklahoma, offering live surgical experiences that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application. This comprehensive program is designed to empower participants with a blend of cutting-edge insights and hands-on skills, preparing them to confidently implement advanced implant techniques in their own practices.
