Live patient implant placement course - hands on intensive - July 10 - 11, 2026 - Querétaro, Mexico - 18CE

This comprehensive course provides a hands-on introduction to dental implantology, covering the full treatment workflow from diagnosis to placement. Participants will learn the fundamentals of implant selection, prosthetic strategy, and treatment planning, followed by guidance on surgical optimization techniques, including grafting procedures and post-extraction protocols. Under expert supervision, doctors will have the opportunity to place implants on patients, gaining valuable clinical experience in real-world cases.

Session 1

 

Implant Practice Management and Implant Placement Protocols - 18CE - January 16 - 17, 2026 - Loren loewen, dds - Albuquerque, NM, USA
This session will provide general dentists with practical knowledge to successfully integrate implants into their practice. Topics include how to manage implant-related costs, reduce risk during consultations, and set realistic patient expectations. Attendees will learn how health conditions and medications affect implant success, as well as the importance of patient compliance. The session also covers treatment planning, choosing the right implant type, using 3D planning and surgical guides, and understanding key periodontal factors. Simple techniques to improve gum tissue around implants will also be discussed.

Session 2 - Full and Partial Arch Implant Placement with Fixed and Removable Prosthetics - 18CE - February 27 - 28, 2026 - Jacob Rogers, dds - Albuquerque, NM, USA

This session will guide dentists through the key differences between fixed and removable implant prosthetics, including how to explain pros and cons to patients. Attendees will learn how to evaluate range of motion, occlusal space, and TMJ/TMD factors when planning treatment. The session will cover implant placement strategies for full-arch stability, implant requirements for each prosthetic type, and how occlusion impacts long-term success. Participants will explore the full prosthetic workflow for removable options, fixed roundhouse cemented restorations, and All-on-X techniques, along with how to use both high-tech and traditional tools in design and fabrication

Session 3

 

Session 3 - Predictable Surgery Protocols: Extractions, Bone Leveling, Tori Removal, RBG, Sinus Lift Procedures - 18CE - April 24 - 25 , 2026 - Loren Loewen, DDS - Albuquerque, NM, USA

This session focuses on foundational and advanced surgical techniques to prepare sites for successful implant placement. Participants will learn conservative tooth extraction methods to preserve bone, as well as bone leveling, alveoloplasty, and tori removal protocols. The course covers socket grafting for 3-wall defects and guided bone regeneration (RBG) techniques for horizontal and vertical augmentation—both before and during implant placement. Attendees will explore the use of resorbable membranes, structural graft materials, and PRF. The session also includes sinus lift procedures and hands-on grafting practice using pig jaws or cadaver heads, supported by Maxxeus.

Session 4 - Immediate Implant Placement and Loading Protocols - 18CE - September 18 - 19, 2026 - Loren loewen, dds - Albuquerque, NM, USA

This session covers key protocols for immediate implant placement following extraction, including guidelines for immediate loading and prosthetic considerations. Participants will learn how to plan for surgical variations using fail-safe strategies to ensure predictable outcomes. The course also explores when and how to incorporate bone augmentation during immediate placement. A live surgery demonstration will showcase full-arch extraction, grafting, implant placement, and interim restoration fabrication and delivery—all in one coordinated procedure.

Session 5

Session 5 - Managing Implant Complications - 18CE - November 13 - 14, 2026 - Loren loewen, dds - Albuquerque, NM, USA

This session focuses on identifying, preventing, and managing implant-related complications. Attendees will learn how to reduce risk through thorough patient education, informed consent, and detailed health evaluations. The course emphasizes collaboration with colleagues to address complications effectively. Participants will gain skills in diagnosing and treating peri-implantitis, understanding the causes of bone loss, and applying both surgical and non-surgical treatment options. The session also covers grafting techniques for infection-related defects, soft tissue management strategies, and criteria for implant removal and retreatment. 

Instructors

Loren Loewen, DDS, MICOI – Program Advisor and Instructor

Born in Hillsboro, Kansas, Dr. Loren Loewen has been proudly serving the people of Kansas since 1988. An honor graduate of the University of Missouri–Kansas City Dental School, he earned the Dean’s Academic Distinction Award as the highest-ranked student in his class. With more than 35 years of implant dentistry experience, Dr. Loewen is highly skilled in both restoring implants and placing large-diameter (conventional) and small-diameter (mini) dental implants. In 2023, he achieved Master status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and is actively pursuing Diplomat status, reflecting his commitment to the highest standards of implant dentistry.

LUIS GALVAN, DDS, FICOI – Instructor

Dr. Luis Galvan, born in Mexico City into a family of dentists, has built an accomplished career dedicated to advancing modern dentistry. After graduating at the top of his class from UniTec University, he completed an Advanced General Practice Residency in San Antonio, where he strengthened his clinical foundation and passion for comprehensive care. In 2010, he earned his U.S. dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), further expanding his international expertise.Today, Dr. Galvan serves as a leading clinician at the Smile Institute in San Antonio, where he focuses on restorative and implant dentistry with an emphasis on precision, aesthetics, and patient-centered care. A recognized authority in dental implants, he has placed more than 10,000 implants and was awarded a Fellowship by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) in 2019.

Jacob Rogers, DDS, FICOI – Instructor

Dr. Jacob Rogers is a New Mexico native who grew up in Albuquerque and the East Mountains. He earned his biology degree from Brigham Young University and graduated with honors from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He completed a residency at UNM focused on dental implants, oral surgery, sedation, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Rodgers is the owner of Desert Ridge Dental and co-founder of ABQ Dental Implant Center. He is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and holds a Mastership in Sedation from the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is committed to providing compassionate, advanced care to his community.
